Setting Up a Password Manager on Polygon

Begin by installing a password manager that supports both client and server-side storage. Consider options like Bitwarden or KeepassXC, as they offer both local and remote storage capabilities, with encryption and access control features.

Create a new user account within the password manager for each family member and friend. This account will include a unique username and password that they will use to log in to the service.

Encrypt your main Polygon server’s hard drive to ensure that in the event of physical theft, the password manager data remains protected. Use a tool like VeraCrypt to encrypt the entire disk.

Set up the password manager client on your main Polygon server. Configure it to use a secure connection, such as HTTPS or a local network connection, to protect any data that might be transmitted.

Once the password manager is set up, start migrating your existing login credentials to the new system. Ensure that each account’s password is stored securely and that you have a backup of your password vault in a safe place, separate from the main server.

Regularly update the password manager software and any related security plugins to ensure that you are protected against any newly discovered vulnerabilities. Set a reminder to do this at least once every quarter.

Educate family members and friends on how to use the password manager. Provide them with clear instructions and perhaps a quick start guide to make the transition as smooth as possible.
