Today's meeting focused on addressing the accumulation of unused Docker containers on our Polygon server, aiming to streamline operations and free up resources for future use. We started by listing all containers with the command `docker ps -a --filter "status=exited"`, which revealed a significant number of old, inactive containers. The decision was made to remove these containers to improve server performance and reduce the clutter. We plan to automate this process by creating a simple script that runs weekly, ensuring we consistently clean up old containers.
An open question remains regarding the criteria for keeping certain containers active. Should we set a retention period based on last activity, or should we establish specific tags to identify containers that are mission-critical and should not be removed? This discussion will continue during the next meeting to finalize our cleanup strategy.
