Install and configure a DNS filter on your main router or a dedicated DNS server running on your Polygon home server. For this guide, we will use Pi-hole as our DNS filtering tool. Ensure that you have SSH access to your Polygon server and basic network configuration skills.
Obtain a list of DNS blocklists. Pi-hole offers several community-contributed blocklists which can be added to your filter. These blocklists typically target advertisements, malware, and known trackers. You can access these blocklists through the Pi-hole web interface or via CLI commands.
Set up a local DNS resolver on your Polygon server. This step ensures that all devices within your network will use the Pi-hole DNS server for filtering. Update your router's DNS settings to point to the IP address of your Polygon server. Verify that all devices are using the new DNS server by running a DNS lookup on a test device.
