Power Cuts and the UPS

/docs-archive/support-network/ · last edited 23 Apr 2018 · Engineering

Our Polygon server runs on a small but efficient UPS to ensure we stay online during power cuts. Here are some common questions and answers about how the system works and what to do in case of issues:

We use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to keep the server running during short power outages. The UPS stores energy in a battery that powers the server when the main power is interrupted. This setup is particularly useful during our occasional power cuts, which can be frustrating but are now much less of an issue. However, the UPS has a limited battery capacity, and if the power is out for too long, the server will eventually shut down. It's important to have a plan in place for when this happens.
