Single Sign-On and Access Control for Polygon FAQ

Is there a single sign-on (SSO) solution for Polygon?

Yes, Polygon implements a basic SSO mechanism that allows users to log in once and access multiple services without needing to enter additional login credentials. This is facilitated by using a shared authentication token generated upon successful login, which is stored locally on the user’s device.

Anyone who is part of the Polygon user group can use the SSO feature. This includes family members and close friends who have been given access to the system. To add a new user, you need to manually set up their account and provide them with the necessary login credentials.

With SSO, you can access a variety of services hosted on Polygon, such as file storage, shared calendars, and group messaging. Each service has its own set of permissions, and you can control who can access specific resources. For instance, not everyone may have access to the family photo albums, while others might have permission to add events to the shared calendar.

How do I revoke access for someone who no longer needs it?

To remove someone’s access, you will need to update their account settings manually. Go to the user management section of the Polygon admin panel, find the user you want to remove, and adjust their access level to “none.” This ensures that their SSO token is no longer valid, and they will be prompted to log in again with updated credentials.
