The meeting started with a review of the nightly restic backups that were automatically run on the Polygon server at 2 AM. The backups were successfully completing without errors, covering the last 30 days of data. No manual interventions were needed, which was good to see. We discussed the importance of keeping the backup files encrypted and the passphrase secure, ensuring that the data remains protected.

Next, we went through the process of conducting a restore drill. A test file was selected, and the command to restore it was run. The restore was completed successfully, and the file was verified to be intact. We noted that the restore process is straightforward, but it's important to document the steps and keep the commands handy for future use. There are still some open questions about how to handle more complex scenarios, such as restoring an entire system state or handling multiple file types during a restore.

In the end, we decided to continue with the current backup strategy and schedule but to also schedule a quarterly review of the restore process to ensure it remains effective and that any changes in the system are accounted for. We will also explore the use of versioning in restic to better manage the different restore points available.
