/docs-archive/old/to-sort/ · last edited 27 Aug 2019 · Finance

On 15th March 2023, the reverse proxy for the Polygon self-hosted home server platform was configured to handle multiple domain names for the family and friends network. The configuration was set up to balance load and improve website performance by distributing traffic among multiple backend servers. This update also included the addition of Let's Encrypt certificates to ensure secure HTTPS connections.

A script was developed to automate the process of certificate renewals, scheduled to run every 90 days. The script checks the expiration date of the certificate and triggers a renewal process using the Let's Encrypt client. This ensures that the server remains secure without manual intervention. The script was tested on a staging server before being deployed to the main Polygon server to verify its effectiveness.

Since the implementation, the reverse proxy has been functioning smoothly, and no issues related to certificate expiration have been reported. The automated renewal process has been successful, ensuring that the home network remains secure. Any minor issues encountered during the update process have been documented and will be addressed in future maintenance cycles.
